Sequencing Schizophrenia

A project seeking to identify the genes of people suffering from schizophrenia on the Faroe Islands has recently received a grant of dkk 4 million. The project can be seen as the first step along the road leading to a major national partnership aiming to analyse the genes of the Danish people.

The recipient of this grant is Anders Børglum, professor at the Department of Human Genetics and Research Consultant Physician at the CCentre for Psychiatric Research at the Faculty of Health sciences, aarhus university and university Hospital. 
The award has been made by the Lundbeck Foundation for the research project entitled “Sequencing Schizophrenia”. This three-year project will be carried out in collaboration with the BGI (Beijing Genomics Institute), which is the world’s largest centre for the analysis of genetic material.
