A slimmer university in future

What are you having for dinner tonight? Last year there were a few teething difficulties with the ordering system, but now you can get takeaway meals at three of the university’s canteens.

Goulash, meatballs and chicken in coconut – just three of the dishes on the menu under the Studenterhusfonden takeaway scheme. If you don’t have time to get to the shops, or if you simply don’t feel like doing any cooking at home, you can pick up your dinner from one of the university’s canteens instead.
The takeaway project was actually launched last year, but computer problems brought it grinding to a halt. In the end Studenterhusfonden had to give away 1,000 dinners to staff and the Salvation Army because the ordering system broke down. But the system is up and running now, and the manager of Studenterhusfonden, Tom Ebbe Jakobsen, can’t wait to find out how many people will be interested in the scheme.
“We expect to have about 50-100 customers at first, and if we get 500 we’ll just have to regard it as an exciting challenge,” he says with a smile.
Dinner for one costs DKK 45, and you pay your bill once a month. At the moment Studenterhusfonden is running a fortnightly menu, but if demand is big enough this will be extended into a monthly menu. You can see what’s for dinner each day and order your meal at www.studenterhusfonden.dk under online bestilling/bestil hjemmemad. You have to order no later than 12 noon the day before you want your meal, stating the name of the canteen at which you want to pick up the food. The meals are frozen when you pick them up.
Studenterhusfonden can also supply regular lunches for entire departments, with each member of staff only paying for the number of lunches they actually eat. Please contact Studenterhusfonden for further details.
