Is there really life on Mars?

When you send a robot to Mars, any repairs that need doing along the way can be pretty expensive or even completely impossible.

So a group of AU researchers are helping NASA to program a piece of software that can predict some of the situations the robot might encounter when it lands on the red planet.

“We’ve developed a tool that can produce highly advanced computer models of the actual Mars robot and the environment it will meet. This will enable us to make a detailed description of the most important mechanical, electronic and control-related challenges that the robot will face,” reports Peter Gorm Larsen from Aarhus University.
