Holm-Nielsen has been a member of the EUA board since 2008, and has worked to strengthen and develop Europe as a united region of knowledge.“Europe is facing a huge challenge if we want to keep our status as a region of knowledge and welfare. New, major knowledge nations such as China, India and Brazil are growing at an explosive rate at the moment, and in several respects their system of education and research matches the European universities to a considerable extent,” says Holm-Nielsen.
