World-famous academics like Sir David Attenborough and Richard Dawkins have joined 65 other British scientists and intellectuals in the foundation of a new protest organisation known as the Council for the Defence of British Universities (CDBU). The aim is to protest against the way the British government is undermining the freedom of British universities and their independence from market forces.
“Our universities are too important to be left in the hands of politicians and businessmen,” say the founders.
